Youth 13-17yr olds

The School offers three progressive coursesin traditional Arabian falconry and desert physiognomy. Students are required to complete each four daycourse in order, starting with Level 2, followed by Level 3and Level 4. Membership is available for students on completion of all three courses.

Cost: 500 AED (excluding VAT)

Course timings: 3.00 to 5.30

 

Level 2


Eligible students

  • Students with an interest in falcons, falconry and desert physiognomy
  • Students aged 13 to 17

Acquired skills and knowledge

  • Knowledge of Arabian Falconry
  • Understanding of the meaning of heritage
  • Knowledge of the importance of falconry in UAE heritage
  • Knowledge of falconry equipment
  • Knowledge of basic falconry anatomy
  • Knowledge of quarry and specific names used in Arabian falconry
  • Understanding of falcon species used in Arabian falconry
  • Knowledge of traditional names for falcons used in Arabian falconry
  • Determine where Calidus peregrines originate from
  • Knowledge of falcon handling and basic training techniques
  • Development of practical skills essential for falconry
  • Knowledge of Sheikh Zayed’s falconry passion
  • Understanding the meaning of sustainable falconry
  • Recognize the role of the saluki in traditional Arabian falconry
  • Ability to make Arabian coffee and traditional bread
  • Basic knowledge of desert physiognomy
  • Understand how to obtain a falcon
  • Acquire basic knowledge of falcon nutrition

Level 3


Eligible students

  • Students aged 13-17
  • Students who have completed Level 2

Acquired skills and knowledge

  • Knowledge of falcon trapping techniques used in the past
  • Advanced knowledge of houbara, stone curlew and Arabian hare
  • Advanced knowledge of peregrine, saker and gyrfalcons
  • Improved understanding of falcon handling and intermediate training techniques
  • Knowledge of Sheikh Zayed’sachievements in environmental protection and sustainable hunting
  • Understanding the meaning and importance of sustainability
  • Recognize the importance of sustainable hunting in Islam
  • Study Sheikh Zayed’s hunting trips
  • Intermediate knowledge of desert physiognomy
  • Understand how to obtain a falcon in the UAE
  • Study the achievements of the Emirates Falconers’ Club

Level 4


Eligible students

  • Students aged 13-17
  • Students who have completed Level 2 and Level 3 at the MBZFDP

Acquired skills and knowledge

  • Knowledge of history of traditional Arabian falconry
  • Understanding the objectives and rationale of the Sheikh Zayed Falcon Release Programme
  • Advanced understanding of falcon handling and training techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of Sheikh Zayed’sachievements in environmental protection and sustainable hunting
  • Knowledge and rationale for UAE falcon passports
  • Understand Sheikh Zayed’s hunting trip philosophy
  • Advanced knowledge of desert physiognomy
  • Understand the need for captive breed falcons
  • Recognize the increased use of hybrid falcons in the UAE
  • Improved knowledge of falcon nutrition
  • Understanding of falcon diseases and how to prevent them
  • Knowledge of basic falcon first aid
